Into the Paradise of Serenity

They say the best things in life 'just happen', and I'm thrilled to share my joy in experiencing it. I met Robin, who graciously welcomed me to his place: a cottage nestled atop a verdant hill, surrounded by lush green trees and embraced by the serene expanse of national parks.

Within this idyllic retreat, time seems to slow down, allowing me to savor each moment of solitude and reflection. All worries simply melt away, replaced by a deep sense of connection with the land and my inner self — an overwhelming feeling of 'oneness'.

I made wonderful friends and joined them for a walk along a nature trail, leading to a waterfall nestled amidst the lush green rainforest. A dip in the pool was refreshing and rejuvenating, leaving me with a profound sense of peace and harmony.

Day 17: Gold Coast to Brisbane

The final leg of my bike tour blessed me with favorable weather. Starting from Gold Coast under cloudy skies and mild drizzle, I aimed for a swift ride along the Pacific highway but hit a roadblock as bicycles were not allowed.

Opting for scenic inner roads, the lush greenery and stunning vistas kept me enchanted. Nearly 20 km before reaching Brisbane, a new bicycle track made the journey effortless.

The city skyline beckoned from afar, injecting me with renewed vigor. Crossing Brisbane River on dedicated bridges alongside pedestrians was exhilarating. The iconic Story Bridge, reminiscent of Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, India, added to the excitement. The bridge's illuminated colors after sunset, viewed from the ferry, were simply mesmerizing.

After bidding farewell to my hosts, I embarked on my journey towards Gold Coast. It being a short ride, I indulged in frequent stops to relish the beaches, parks, and picturesque lookout points along the way.

Upon arriving in Gold Coast, a pleasant weather, accompanied by a light drizzle, added to the charm. Taking a stroll down the streets to Surfer's Paradise, I encountered a carnival-like atmosphere reminiscent of Asian night markets, filled with fun, food, and festivities. 💖

Day 14 & 15: Byron Bay to Tweed Heads

Hung out in Byron Bay for a day, soaking up the beach life, munching on delicious grub, and exploring the streets, staying at the Art Village Lodge, packed with fellow adventurers.

Started my journey to Banora Point near Tweed Heads, hugging the coastal road. Google Maps played tricks, ended up climbing a hill for that seaside view!

Rode through serene greenery, couldn't catch a glimpse of the beach yet, just quite roads and bushes blocking the sea view. Took a breather at Portsville village, where a mobile library rocked the scene, love the community spirit!

Continued my ride, cruising next to creeks and ocean, got treated to stunning views at Hastings Point and Kingscliff.

Crashed at a Warmshower host's pad, awesome lovely biker couple, their home? A peaceful lake and park in the backyard!

The excitement of reaching Byron Bay was huge but the heat is testing the limit. It was a very short ride of 33 km to reach Byron Bay.

After the lunch there, I rode to the Australia's most Easterly Land at Cape Byron lighthouse. It definitely required to climb a steep hill but was completely worth for the serene view of the boundless beach and limitless ocean.

Day 12: Maclean to Ballina

Feeling weary upon waking, I opted for a restful day to recharge my energy. The luxury of a few extra hours of sleep invigorated me for the journey ahead.

The day unfolded under a canopy of clouds, blessing me with a pleasantly cool atmosphere for my ride. Crossing the expansive Clarence River bridge infused a sense of joy. The Pacific Highway welcomed me with vehicles cruising at 110 kph, but wide shoulder lane was a relief. Despite my usual aversion to concrete roads due to their tendency to become uncomfortably hot, the mild weather and green surroundings made the ride enjoyable.

Intrigued by the quaint charm of a village New Italy, I felt compelled to pause. Exploring a museum revealed a rich history: in 1882, Italian immigrants from the Veneto region of northern Italy, many survivors of the ill-fated De Rays Expedition, found refuge here. I savored an authentic Italian meal at a cafe there.

Resuming my journey towards Ballina, I aimed to arrive by evening. However, at 6 pm, all campsites were closed for booking, prompting me to secure accommodations at a hotel.

As dusk settled, I embarked on an evening ride to the lighthouse beach (north wall), where the Richmond River converges with the South Pacific Ocean. Along a cyclist and pedestrian track stretching a kilometer into the ocean, I marveled at the beauty of the surroundings, grateful for the opportunity to explore such breathtaking landscapes.

Day 11: Grafton to Maclean

Heavy rain disrupted my sleep last night. Also, I couldn't find charge so my phone was on life support. Took a McDonald's pit stop for charging and breakfast. Braved to Big River road with narrow shoulder, dodging close encounters with passing vehicles, especially those jumbo trucks.

Later the wide shoulders of the Pacific highway provided some relief, but the relentless headwind turned the ride into a battle of wills. As evening approached, I stumbled upon a tranquil village by the river Clarence, where time seemed to stand still, offering a serene respite from the day's adventures.

Heavy rain forcast made me travel from Port Maquaire to Coffs Harbour by bus.

Next day after fixing the flat tyre, I started riding. I stopped at Woolgoolga which many people have recommended as there is a big Sikh community and first Gurudwara of Australia, built in 1968. The Sikh farmmer came to Cairns to work in Sugarcane farms and later settled in Woolgoolga doing banana plantations.

It was cloudy, but still hot and humid. I reached Grafton and stayed at a camping ground in South Grafton.

Day 8: Diamond Heads to Port Maquaire

When I started the day, I was left with just with 500 ml of water and had a nutrition bar for breakfast. Well the replenish was not far just 11 km ahead so not to worry about.

It's gonna be very hot day and the only relief is that the ride is less than 50 km. Got a nice ocean view from Bonny Hills which was refreshing.

I stayed with an Indian Couchsurfing guest Cibin, who took me to the lighthouse and beach for swimming & body surfing.

Day 4 & 5: Mungo Brush to Rainbow flat

I woke up to find that my tyre got deformed with swelling and bubbles. A gentleman offered, rather insisted, to take me back to Newcastle for tyre replacement. It took us whole day.

Next day I took a dirt road walking/cycling only old Gibber trail of 21 km where I didn't encountered anyone else, just trees ans birds are there.

After that the road was parallel to multiple lakes making it a beautiful ride.
